Why do we behave in the way we do?

The answer to this question stands at the heart of humanity’s maturity problem.
 
Our ancestors, somewhere around the campfire, when they were newbies to complex systems like societies and cultures, discovered the automated nature of the unconscious orchestrated by emotional notations. Even though it was an intuitive decision at the time, they knew they needed a working simple system that had already passed environmental selection tests to build their complexity upon. Because a complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work. You have to start over with a working simple system. [1]
